Good answers. The sermon was on the verse in 1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
I had never really thought of fear as being diametrically opposed to love; I always saw it on the far side of the spectrum when looking at Faith, but when you boil it down, if you fear God, your life proves that you don't trust in his Love for you... That was among some of my favorite verses, but I had never quite looked at it like that.
“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:13, 14
