Russian Riddle

So what happens when you have a MAJOR traffic jam because of (poorly executed) road construction, and you are in a MAJOR hurry (just because you happen to be really rich, proven by the fact that you're driving around in Russia with a Land Cruiser)? How would YOU get somewhere fast in that situation? You're driving on a four-lane non-divided suburban highway; the right two lanes are completely jammed, and it is around 11pm.

Let me know what you think in the comments, and then I will post the solution to the riddle sometime in the near future... :)

  • Good answers... Reb, you're the closest, but add some more "Russian Wisdom" to the equation, and you'll be there... It's too noticeable to to the police if your headlights are shining at them in the wrong lanes of traffic, so the idea is illustrated in the following graphic: (click here for illustration)

You put your four-way flashers on, quickly turn around, and drive backwards into oncoming traffic as fast as you dare; which in his case was quite a steady clip... I would have been impressed, had it not been such an absolutely insane move. ;)

  • Way too funny! Glad to hear of your Russian driving adventures. I had a similar experience 3 weeks ago in Cairo, Egypt. Except our driver did it driving forwards. In Cairo, they drive at night sans headlights, so he just turned his on and off rapidly to show the oncoming traffic that he was indeed facing them and moving in their direction. It was a zoo.
